Google glass which is a camera eyewear gadget was launched by Google way back three years ago. It comes with a lot of features, using smartphones, it can show different information like texts and GPS directions. Glass offers a lot of things, but it is said that only a few are notable enough to break it into the mainstream. It leads to its sudden disappearance.
Several other companies tried to make these glasses gadget, one of it is Snap Inc., formerly known as Snapchat. Snap had been developing a new type of camera glasses, they called it Spectacles.
Spectacles and Google glass are somewhat similar but they differ in some ways. Spectacles look like regular sunglasses, they are significantly cheaper and are intended solely for camera features.
Snap created one of the smallest wireless video cameras in the world which is capable of recording 10-second video clips. It is integrated into a fun pair of sunglasses that easily captures memories. Spectacles are connected to Snapchat app through Bluetooth or Wifi, the captured footage in a new circular video format is directly transferred to the user’s phone. The circular video can play in full screen on any device, in several orientations, and captures the human stance with a 115-degree field of view.
The success of Spectacles is yet to know, it will mostly depend on the acceptance of it by the public, whether it may be better than simply recording a video using a phone.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Spectacles will launch this fall and will come in three different colours for $129.99.
